All my atheist years can be resumed in these three questions the Lord answered after I believed, except one.
For half of my twenties and late teens, I was an atheist. And during that time I had so many questions I had thrown “out there”. When I became a believer in Jesus Christ, in one afternoon when I had gone in my old journals and found these giving me a headache I literally placed an ice pack on my head. The following week, the Lord answered them as I was hearing answers coming from my chest area one by one.
The questions were:
1. What is the biggest question you can ask that can give you the biggest answer such that if you had that answer, you will never ask any question again?
2. What is the biggest feeling you can feel such that if you felt it once you will never feel empty again?
3. What is the smallest thing you can have that is everything and that is not nothing?
Motives behind the questions.
To question 1: I was tired of pondering. I was tired of overthinking, overscrutinising, over-analysing everything, in all things.
To question 2: I was so empty I became the void itself.
To question 3: I was hoarding information and drinking it by the gallons but was never satisfied.
The Lord’s answers
To question 1: silence.
To question 2: feeling alive in Christ.
To question 3: enough.
One question I did not ask on this day was why can’t scientists create brand new fruits from scratch - like there are watermelons, there are pineapples. What is the other completely man-made biological fruit?
Why the question.
In my atheism I reached a point where I was believing science as my god and my source of answers in everything and all things.
Not having the answer to this one question unmasked their limitation, and helped me seek elsewhere.
Bonus question (This one I asked after I became a believer) : What is the biggest thing you can give, take, lose, gift, etc.?
Motive behind the question: for all the things the Lord does for me, I wanted to give him something, so I asked him that question, and before I had finished asking (I will never forget this), he had answered.
His answer: love.
